Bethany Tate was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and has been living in Portland, Oregon for the last ten years. She spent seven of those years working as a make-up artist and cosmetics consultant for a high-end department store. For years, Bethany dreamed of creating a pin-up calendar full of plus sized beauties so she could help people like herself feel good about themselves and in turn increase the visibility of happy, fat bodies.
In January of 2014, Bethany talked about her calendar idea in PDX Fatshion, a plus size fashion group on Facebook, and she quickly gathered a lot of enthusiasm from like-minded artists in Portland’s fat community. Bethany quickly assembled a team for creating a 2015 body positive calendar, and Pudge PDX was born.
Bethany is the founder and lead make-up artist of non-profit size acceptance organization Pudge PDX. Through 2014, over 100 people volunteered their time and skills to create an inspiring and exciting calendar that can be purchased on their website.
